Hikes were great, hotels were nice, especially the last one Senesalina.
The trip of a lifetime! The hiking was challenging and so rewarding in a most beautiful country! I'm so glad I got to see the parts of Slovenia that many will never view. Breathtaking!
Multi-faceted and flexible. Each day featured a unique aspect of Slovenian geography, history, and food. When weather interfered with planned activities, an alternative and equally interesting day was ours.
Ate and drank my way across the most beautiful country in Europe. Spela Vodovc knows all the great cooks, restaurants, wineries and hotels in Slovenia. She puts together great trips and food! A rejuvenating experience.
Slovenia is one of the most beautiful places with incredible landscapes. I loved the variety of regions/climates and activities we covered during the trip. My favorite part of the experience was the hut-to-hut hike for sure. If there was anything I'd improve, a couple of the hotels we stayed at weren't the best and I think it would be helpful to understand what to expect during the hut-to-hut beforehand, but overall I truly loved my trip.
This was the perfect combination of challenging alpine backpacking and exploring the cuisine and viniculture of Slovenia - from a three Michelin star chef to farmhouses and family-run wineries, as well as high altitude backpacker huts. Simply the perfect melange of experiences to get a 'taste' of Slovenia!
Slovenia is filled with wonderful beauty and opportunities for enjoying it.
The hut-to-hut hiking section was the best, together with the dinner at Hisa Franko and the absolutely wonderful accommodation in Goriska Brda . The shorter hikes were also good for warm-up and active rest. The lowest points (just by comparison, although the quality was also good) were probably the Alp hotel in Bovec (slightly below the standard of the rest) and the visit to the WWI museum (I would probably choose other landmarks before that one in the area).
