About Jon Ander Beristain
I was born 1977 in Portugalete (Bizkaia), but didn’t discover climbing and mountains until the year 2000. Since the first day I went climbing with friends it became a fundamental part of my life. During the past 18 years I’ve been travelling, learning and practicing sport climbing, trad and big wall climbing, ice climbing, alpinism, ski mountaineering… Rock is my playground, with many crags in the Basque country, and whenever I have a couple days I go to Picos dee Europa, Pyrenees, and even the Alps. The list of projects and new destinations is never ending, all of them waiting for the ideal opportunity. I enjoy the mountains as the first day. Five years ago I decided to leave everything else behind and do what I really like: become a guide to teach, train, and to pass on my passion for the mountains. I’m currently a Rock climbing guide, but plan to continue my formation to become an alpine mountain guide during next year.
