The Johnstone Strait kayak expedition was an amazing trip. The wildlife – the scenery – the water – SPECTACULAR! Spirit of the West are really passionate about their trips and operate in a responsible way in this precious ecosystem. I can’t wait to do another trip with them!

This was a truly amazing experience!!! We went as a group of three couples, and we all had an amazing time. Spirit of the West Adventures outdid themselves in every way…

The guides on the trip were extremely knowledgeable about the local wildlife, history, local area and full of stories. I enjoyed the extra paddles in the evenings to get some additional time on the water in this amazing environment. The food was amazing from start to finish. How the guides managed to produce such quality food in the wilderness will be their secret.

It was a wonderfully designed (one-way back by boat) and well organized trip discovering new territory and views each day in ever changing weather (think foggy mornings brightening up by mid-day, mostly), which was magical. We spotted sea otters, seals, sea lions, dolphins, porpoise and humpback whales, plus black bears on shore, with hearing whales blow at night while lying in a cosy tent, maybe being the most magical nature experience for me.

This trip exceeded my expectations! Not only was our guide deeply knowledgeable about the ocean and its inhabitants, she was also a fantastic camp chef, an astute navigator, and a calmly motivating paddler.

The home base is a great place to start your day and end it! We hit some bumps along the way but no matter.. they ensured we were taken care of! You can rest assured that this operator will take care of you. They are professionals. Thanks for an amazing time!!
